Why a year without Television?

The Internet has made such a strong place in my life over the past 10 years. I spend hours online, and have a blackberry for when I am not at my desktop. I will be purchasing a laptop this year also. Being so consumed with blogs, emails, and surfing the net, I decided to see for myself through human experiment, if my life would be changed or any less informed in any way without any television at all. NONE!

Here are my rules:

  • No TV for any reason, that includes a natural disaster(God forbid). I must get all of my news from reading papers, magazines, and the Internet.
  • I cannot watch at a friends house, abroad(if I get ticket money), or so much as an electronics store window.
  • People can talk to me about what was on TV, but after I tell them about my little experiment, I am sure the conversation will end.
  • I can watch DVDs, but no programming what so ever on the tube.
  • I can watch TV shows, but they must be only on the Internet
